Rahman and his sister arrive in a village to seek work from Balaram, a powerful, short-tempered man who cannot stand liars. To keep the job, Rahman is made to pretend he is a Hindu named Ram, and when Balaram catches him in another situation, he has to invent an identical twin with a completely different personality. Each new lie demands another, until the whole household is drawn into an elaborate comedy of disguises. Masala is a Telugu remake of the Hindi comedy Bol Bachchan (2012), itself drawn from Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Golmaal (1979), pairing Venkatesh and Ram in a two-hero comedy. S. Thaman composed the songs.
