Easwaran lives in a Chennai slum and cares only about cash; he will do any job if the price is right. Jothi, a nurse in the area, sees something better in him. Easwaran is hired by a local strongman and gets mixed up with a doctor whose clinic is quietly testing dangerous drugs and biological agents on unsuspecting slum residents, as part of a larger international scheme. As people around him start falling ill, he has to choose whom to stand with. E is a political action drama from S. P. Jananathan, a director known for his left-leaning themes, and it gave Jiiva one of his early acclaimed roles opposite Nayanthara, with Pasupathy in a strong supporting part.
