Manohar moves his large family into flat 13B on the thirteenth floor of a new Mumbai tower. Strange things begin at once: the lift will not work for him alone, milk curdles, and photos come out wrong. Then the women of the house become addicted to a new daytime serial, Sab Khairiyat, about a family uncannily like theirs, and Manohar notices that whatever happens on the show soon happens to them. Its good news comes true; so, he fears, will its bad news. Vikram Kumar's clever premise, shot by the renowned P. C. Sreeram, made it one of the most admired Indian horror films of its decade. It was made simultaneously in Tamil as Yavarum Nalam, and a Telugu version, 13B, was also released.
