Apna Haath Jagannath (1960)

Apna Haath Jagannath takes its title from a Hindi proverb meaning that one's own effort is one's god: self-reliance beats waiting for luck. Directed by Mohan Segal, the film is a light social comedy-drama built around Kishore Kumar, then at the height of his popularity as a comic lead, with Sayeeda Khan as his co-star and Nasir Hussain in support. The songs were composed by S. D. Burman, Kishore's most important musical collaborator.
