15th August (1993)

15th August is a modestly made Hindi film from the early 1990s, also circulated under the title Azadi. Ronit Roy and Tisca Chopra head the cast, with Shakti Kapoor among the supporting players, and the title and alternative name point to a story built around freedom, duty and standing up to wrongdoers. Little reliable detail about its production or release has survived, so this page keeps to what is known. For viewers interested in the early careers of its leads, it is a chance to see Ronit Roy in the years before his later reinvention as a character actor, and Tisca Chopra at the very start of her screen career.
