Inspector Sethupathi is a straightforward policeman with a loving wife and two young children. Investigating the murder of a fellow officer, he clashes with Vaathiyar, a feared figure who controls the area. When a confrontation goes wrong, Sethupathi is suspended amid an inquiry, and the don begins targeting him through those he loves. The film balances a gritty cop story with warm, realistic scenes of family life, and gave Vijay Sethupathi his first full-fledged police role. It reunited him with director S. U. Arun Kumar after Pannaiyarum Padminiyum and was a commercial success; the scenes with his on-screen children were particularly liked.
