Virudhagiri is a highly trained police officer with a formidable record. When his young niece and her friend are abducted while travelling abroad and fall into the hands of an international trafficking ring, he sets off on his own to find them before they vanish for good. The hunt takes him through a foreign underworld of pimps and criminal gangs, where he relies on interrogation, fists and sheer persistence. The film is an Indian reworking of the premise of the Hollywood thriller Taken. It was Vijayakanth's only film as director, made at a time when he was also a rising force in Tamil Nadu politics, and the dialogue carries several of his trademark speeches about duty and justice.
