Kanagavel has one ambition: to become a police officer. While he waits for his selection, he crosses paths with Shankar, a cruel and corrupt police inspector, when he stands up for the woman he loves. Shankar takes it personally and sets out to ruin Kanagavel's future by any means, using the full power of his uniform, and the young man has to fight back without losing the very career he is fighting for. Dhill was the film that turned Vikram, fresh from his breakthrough in Sethu, into a commercial action star, and it began a successful partnership with director Dharani that continued with Dhool. Ashish Vidyarthi's menacing villain became one of the most remembered of the period, and Vidyasagar's songs were chartbusters.
