2 States (2014)

Krish, a Punjabi from Delhi, and Ananya, a Tamil Brahmin from Chennai, meet as students at IIM Ahmedabad and fall in love. Marrying would be easy, they decide, if only their parents agreed, so they set out to win over each other's families instead of eloping. That means Krish moving to Chennai to charm a reserved household that sees him as a loud northerner, and Ananya facing Krish's sharp-tongued mother, while Krish's own troubled relationship with his father complicates everything. 2 States is based on Chetan Bhagat's semi-autobiographical 2009 novel and was one of the biggest hits of 2014. Amrita Singh and Revathi, as the two mothers, steal many scenes, and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy's songs, including Locha-e-Ulfat and Mast Magan, were widely popular.
