Sati Toral (1980)

Sati Toral draws on one of the best-known legends of Gujarat and Kutch: the story of Toral, a pious woman, and Jesal, a dreaded outlaw whose encounter with her devotion leads him to renounce his ways and become a saint. The pair are remembered in shrines and devotional songs of the region, and the story was filmed several times. Arvind Trivedi, a leading star of Gujarati cinema who later became famous across India as Ravana in Ramanand Sagar's Ramayan, plays the lead. Details of this version's makers are not widely documented.
