Uttam Chaudhary is a retired professor of Hindi whose memory is beginning to fail. Small lapses turn into confusion, and soon he is haunted by a bizarre fear: that he is accused of the murder of Mahatma Gandhi, a fear that seems to grow out of a forgotten incident from his childhood. His daughter Trisha gives up much of her own life to care for him and, with the help of a doctor, tries to understand and calm his delusion. Anupam Kher, who also produced the film, gives one of the most acclaimed performances of his career, and Urmila Matondkar is moving as the devoted daughter. Directed by Jahnu Barua, the celebrated Assamese filmmaker, it is a sensitive portrait of dementia and of a family's love, as well as a reflection on Gandhi's place in the Indian conscience.
