P.J. and Goose are BMX-mad teenagers who meet Judy when they crash into her at the supermarket where she works. Hunting for money to replace their wrecked bikes, the three of them find a stash of walkie-talkies that a gang of crooks needs for a big payroll robbery, and are soon being chased across beaches, building sites and suburban streets by the robbers and the police. BMX Bandits was directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith, a veteran of Australian action films, and is full of bike stunts and slapstick chases. It is best known today as one of the first films of a sixteen-year-old Nicole Kidman, and it remains a cheerful family adventure with a cult following among people who grew up in the BMX craze.
