Sivaji comes home to Tamil Nadu after years in the United States as a hugely successful software systems architect, with his life's savings and a dream: to set up free hospitals and universities for the poor. Every step is blocked by bribe-hungry officials and by Adiseshan, a powerful businessman who sees him as a threat. Ruined and humiliated, Sivaji decides that if the system runs on black money, he will take it on at its own game. Alongside runs a comic romance with the traditional Tamizhselvi. Sivaji: The Boss was the most expensive Indian film made up to its time and one of the biggest hits of Rajinikanth's career, full of his trademark style and punch lines. A. R. Rahman's songs, K. V. Anand's camerawork and Vivek's comedy all add to the spectacle.
