Maryan (2013)

Maryan is a fisherman in Neerodi, a village on the southern coast of Tamil Nadu, who loves the sea more than anything and keeps Panimalar, a woman devoted to him, at arm's length. When her family falls into debt, he takes a two-year contract in Sudan to help them, and his feelings for her grow with every month away. As he is about to return, he and his co-workers are seized by armed militants, and Maryan must survive captivity and the desert to get home. Bharat Bala's film is admired for Dhanush's committed performance, Parvathy's warmth and A. R. Rahman's soundtrack, especially the songs "Nenjae Ezhu" and "Innum Konjam Naeram".
