Description

Beera Munda is a hero to the forest villages of the region and an outlaw to the state. When Superintendent Dev Sharma arrives to crush him, Beera kidnaps Dev's wife, Ragini, and takes her deep into the jungle to avenge a wrong done to his own sister. Dev hunts them with a forest guard as his guide, and during her fourteen days as a captive Ragini comes to understand the man she was taught to fear. Mani Ratnam's Raavan is a modern retelling of the Ramayana from Ravana's point of view, filmed simultaneously in Tamil as Raavanan, in which Vikram played the outlaw instead of the officer. Its rain-soaked forests and the Athirappilly waterfalls in Kerala are spectacularly shot by Santosh Sivan and V. Manikandan, and A. R. Rahman's songs, with Gulzar's lyrics, include 'Behene De' and 'Thok De Killi'.
