Baahubali: The Beginning (2015)

A foundling raised by a mountain tribe cannot stop climbing the great waterfall above his village, and at the top he finds a war. A rebel warrior, Avanthika, is trying to free Devasena, a former queen whom the king Bhallaladeva has kept prisoner for twenty-five years. When the king's oath-bound warrior Kattappa sees the young man's face he recognises it as the face of Amarendra Baahubali, the prince the kingdom of Mahishmati loved, and the rest of the film is his account of how the kingdom came to this. It ends on a confession that only the sequel explains. A family enterprise: S. S. Rajamouli directed from a story by his father, K. V. Vijayendra Prasad, with costumes by his wife Rama and music by his cousin M. M. Keeravani. Prabhas plays both father and son, with Rana Daggubati as Bhallaladeva, Anushka Shetty as Devasena, Tamannaah Bhatia as Avanthika, Ramya Krishnan as Sivagami, Sathyaraj as Kattappa and Nassar as Bijjaladeva. Made in Telugu and Tamil and released on 10 July 2015; this is the Hindi version.
