Antony and Vinay are engineering graduates with plenty of skill and no steady jobs. Their knack with computers gets them taken on as temporary hands in the police cyber cell, where they help track down the culprits behind a leaked film, online fraud and other cases that reflect real cyber crime in Kerala, while their own uncertain futures hang over everything. Operation Java was the debut of writer-director Tharun Moorthy and was one of the first Malayalam films to fill cinemas when they reopened in early 2021, becoming a word-of-mouth hit. It was praised for its realistic, procedural detail and for the way it shows the plight of educated young people stuck in contract jobs. Lukman Avaran and Balu Varghese lead a strong ensemble.
