Ali scrapes by in Mumbai, selling underwear on the street and doing small jobs as a debt collector with his friend, played by Arbaaz Khan. On one such job at a golf course he hits a ball for the first time and sends it a remarkable distance, and soon he is entering tournaments, much to the disgust of the snobbish club regulars and a reigning champion who does not want an outsider on his turf. Directed by Sohail Khan and produced by his family, the film gave Nawazuddin Siddiqui a rare mainstream comic lead, playing an underdog who wins people over with his cheek and honesty. It is loosely in the spirit of the Hollywood comedy Happy Gilmore.
