Ram is a travel photographer who has never quite got over Jaanu, the girl he loved in school before life pulled them apart. When their old classmates organise a reunion, Jaanu, now married and living abroad, comes back for it, and the two find themselves together for a single night, wandering the city, remembering, laughing and carefully circling the question of what might have been. Jaanu is director C. Prem Kumar's own Telugu remake of his celebrated Tamil film 96, with Govind Vasantha returning to rework his much-loved music. Sharwanand and Samantha step into the roles first played by Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha. The film is quiet, slow and built almost entirely on looks, silences and conversation, which is exactly its appeal for viewers who like their romance understated.
