Reign Over Me (2007)

Alan Johnson has a successful dental practice and a loving family in Manhattan, yet he feels quietly trapped. One night he spots Charlie Fineman, his old college roommate, riding a scooter through the city. Charlie lost his wife and three daughters on one of the planes of September 11 and now lives in a fog of video games, music and home renovations, refusing to talk about the past. As the two men rebuild their friendship, Alan tries to get Charlie the help he needs without breaking him. Adam Sandler, best known for broad comedy, gives one of his most serious performances, with Don Cheadle as the friend who learns about his own life along the way. The title comes from The Who's song Love, Reign o'er Me, which runs through the film.
