Maa Beti (1986)

Maa Beti is a family drama of the mid-1980s directed by Kalpataru, centred on the bond between a mother, played by Sharmila Tagore, and her daughter, played by Meenakshi Seshadri. In the tradition of the era's social melodramas, it builds its story on sacrifice, family secrets and the trials women face within the household. It is a modest film best suited to viewers who enjoy emotional domestic dramas and the work of its two leading actresses.
