Mynaa (2013)

A young man in trouble with the law ends up across the table from a seasoned police officer, and the film unfolds largely in flashback as he recounts how he met and fell for Mynaa. Their romance, set against small-town Karnataka, is tender and full of songs, but family pressure and circumstance keep pushing them apart. Director Nagashekar, who had earlier made Sanju Weds Geetha, gives the story the tone of a tragic romance. Nithya Menen's performance as Mynaa was widely praised, and Tamil star R. Sarathkumar plays the officer listening to the tale. Jassie Gift's songs were popular, and the film was a solid hit in Karnataka.
