Marudhu is a burly but soft-hearted market loader in Rajapalayam who adores the grandmother who raised him. He falls for Bhagyalakshmi, a bold young woman who has her own score to settle with Rolex Pandian, a brutal local strongman with political ambitions. When Marudhu takes her side, he puts himself and the people he loves in Rolex's path, and the clash grows into a bloody vendetta. Director M. Muthaiah, known for earthy rural dramas such as Kutti Puli and Komban, sets the story in the heat and noise of a southern Tamil town, with D. Imman's songs and Kulappulli Leela's spirited grandmother adding warmth. R. K. Suresh's fierce villain was much talked about.
