Major Mahadevan, the army officer of Major Ravi's earlier films Keerthi Chakra and Kurukshetra, now commands a unit of the National Security Guard. When terrorists hijack a passenger plane and fly it out of the country, he and his men must work against the clock while the government weighs what it is willing to give to bring the hostages home. Among the passengers caught up in the ordeal is Lokanath Sharma, a dignified elder, and the crisis touches Mahadevan's own young recruits. Inspired by the 1999 hijacking of flight IC 814 to Kandahar, the film is notable for bringing Amitabh Bachchan to Malayalam cinema for the first time opposite Mohanlal.
