Mast (1999)

Kittu is a middle-class boy from a small town who is hopelessly devoted to Mallika, the reigning queen of Hindi films, filling his room with her posters and his head with fantasies. His parents and friends think he is wasting his life. Then, by an extraordinary chance, he meets the real Mallika, who is fed up with a life controlled by others and by the demands of stardom, and the two set off on an unlikely adventure as she tastes ordinary freedom and he must protect her from those who want her back. Ram Gopal Varma made the film as a playful love letter to Urmila Matondkar's star image. It was Aftab Shivdasani's first role as a leading man, and Sandeep Chowta's songs, including "Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi", were popular.
