One morning in Kochi, several unconnected lives collide on the road: a traffic constable returning to duty after a disgrace, a young journalist on his way to a big interview, a film star whose daughter is gravely ill, a doctor with troubles at home. After a road accident leaves a young man brain-dead, his family agrees to donate his heart, which must be driven to a hospital in Palakkad, about 150 km away, in a little over two hours. The police clear the route and the drive becomes a race against time. Traffic was inspired by a real 2008 organ transport in Chennai and is often credited with starting the new-generation wave in Malayalam cinema. It was remade in Tamil and in Hindi, the Hindi version also directed by Rajesh Pillai.
