Gautham and Kundavi live in Mumbai with their little daughter and seem to have a perfect marriage, even though it was arranged against Gautham's wishes. One day Kundavi finds his old college diary and reads about Aishwarya, the woman he loved and lost before he married her. Hurt but curious, she decides to do something remarkable about it, and the film explores love, memory and what makes a marriage. Released in September 2006, the same month Suriya and Jyothika married in real life, the film benefited from the audience's affection for the couple. A. R. Rahman's soundtrack was a major hit, with "Munbe Vaa" in particular becoming one of the most loved Tamil songs of the decade. The film was directed by debutant N. Krishna, credited as Obeli N. Krishna.
