Madhavan, known in the Mumbai police as Mad Maddy for his reckless methods, is given a case that takes him back to Kerala: a teenage girl has disappeared, and the trail points to a network that kidnaps young girls and sells them into the sex trade. Working with the girl's mother and an unconventional team, he digs through layers of local crime and protection, using force and intimidation where the law moves too slowly. Karmayodha is written and directed by Major Ravi, a former army officer best known for his military films with Mohanlal such as Keerthichakra, and here he turns to a police thriller with a social message about child trafficking. Mohanlal brings a hard edge to the role, and Hindi actor Murali Sharma plays a key part.
