Ajith Kumar plays a double role in Aasal: the wealthy Jeevanandham and his son Shiva, born outside his marriage. Shiva is devoted to his father and to the family, but his half-brothers resent him and, after their father's death, fall in with dangerous men abroad. Shiva follows the trouble across international locations to protect the family name, with Sameera Reddy and Bhavana as the two women in his life and Prabhu as his trusted ally. Aasal reunited Ajith with director Saran, who had made his early hits Kadhal Mannan and Amarkalam, and was produced by Sivaji Ganesan's family banner. It is a stylish, globe-trotting action drama made for his fans.
