Anando Brahma (2017)

A seemingly haunted house is up for sale, and to prove it is safe, the owner lets four desperate men, each with his own quirk and money problem, stay there for a while. The house really is occupied by ghosts, led by Taapsee Pannu, who are themselves frightened of people and are determined to drive the newcomers out. What follows is a role reversal: the living refuse to be scared and the dead get increasingly rattled. Anando Brahma, written and directed by Mahi V. Raghav, turns the haunted-house formula on its head and was a surprise hit in 2017, thanks largely to its comic cast led by Srinivasa Reddy and Vennela Kishore. Its Hindi dub was released as Kanchana 3, though it has no link to the Kanchana films.
