Stalin, a former army officer, believes that society can change if each person who receives help passes it on to three more people. His idea spreads through the state, but the chain eventually runs into the self-interest of a powerful minister and his clan, and when Stalin's family is drawn in, the gentle campaign turns into an all-out confrontation. Stalin was the Telugu debut of Tamil director A. R. Murugadoss, fresh from Ghajini, and its "help three people" idea echoes the American film Pay It Forward. Produced by Chiranjeevi's brother Nagendra Babu, it was a major commercial success, with Mani Sharma's songs and strong action scenes.
