Bansi Keswani is a quiet chartered accountant whose life is turned upside down when he is arrested in connection with a multi-crore scam involving a powerful client. His wife Pooja refuses to believe him guilty, and an inexperienced but determined young lawyer takes the case against a seasoned, sharp-tongued prosecutor. As the courtroom battle unfolds, cheques, signatures and alibis become pieces of a puzzle in which nothing is quite as it seems. 420 IPC takes its title from the Indian Penal Code section on cheating. It is a compact courtroom drama that relies on dialogue and performances, with Vinay Pathak and Ranvir Shorey, frequent co-stars, on opposite sides of the story.
