Sillu Karuppatti ("a piece of palm jaggery") is an anthology of four short stories about love at different ages. In the first, a boy who sorts rubbish for a living finds something precious in a rich girl's discarded bag. In the second, a young man facing a frightening diagnosis finds unexpected companionship. In the third, two elderly people meet late in life and discover a gentle romance. In the last, a married couple, played by Samuthirakani and Sunainaa, whose relationship has gone stale, find their way back to each other with help from a voice assistant in their home. Writer-director Halitha Shameem, who earlier made Poovarasam Peepee, tells each story with lightness and warmth, and the film was widely praised as one of the most charming Tamil films of 2019.
