Suhagan (1986)

Suhagan ("a married woman") is one of the many Hindi films that Telugu director K. Raghavendra Rao made with Jeetendra in the 1980s, the period when South Indian producers and directors turned out a steady stream of colourful family entertainers in Hindi. It brings together Jeetendra with two of the leading heroines of the day, Sridevi and Padmini Kolhapure, in a domestic melodrama about marriage, duty and the sacrifices of a wife, the staple theme its title promises. Expect the polished song-and-dance numbers, bright colours and emotional confrontations typical of these Madras-made Hindi films. It is mainly of interest to fans of the Jeetendra-Sridevi pairing, which was one of the most bankable of the decade.
