Amman Kovil Kizhakale (1986)

Amman Kovil Kizhakale ("east of the Amman temple") is a 1986 Tamil village drama directed by R. Sundarrajan, starring Vijayakanth and Radha. Vijayakanth plays a hot-headed but good-hearted village singer, and the story follows his stormy relationship with the woman he marries, set against village feuds and pride. It was one of the hits that established Vijayakanth as a rural hero, and Ilaiyaraaja's songs, including Chinna Mani Kuyile, were enormously popular.
