Karthik is a carefree young man who wants nothing more than to enjoy life with his friends. When he meets Nandana, a serious, principled young woman, a series of misunderstandings convinces her that he is the worst kind of loafer. Then a marriage proposal arrives from his family, and Karthik discovers who the prospective bride is. Winning her over, while she does everything to wriggle out of the match, becomes the film's comic engine, before a more serious complication tests them both. Oka Laila Kosam ("for a Laila") was produced by Nagarjuna for his son Naga Chaitanya and marked the Telugu debut of Pooja Hegde, who went on to become one of the industry's top heroines. Anoop Rubens composed the breezy soundtrack.
