Pambattam (2024)

Pambattam ("snake dance") is a Tamil fantasy-horror film set partly in a royal past, built around a serpent curse that hangs over a kingdom and the people bound up with it. Mallika Sherawat plays the central woman linked to the curse, with Jeevan and Rittika Sen in the other main roles. Director V. C. Vadivudaiyan, who also made the horror film Pottu, mixes palace intrigue, snake lore, dance numbers and visual effects in the style of the long tradition of snake films in South Indian cinema. The film marked a rare South Indian lead role for Mallika Sherawat. It circulates in Hindi as Naagmati.
