Aruvi grew up a happy, much-loved child, but as a young woman something drives her family to cast her out of their home. Living on the margins with her friend Emily, a transgender woman, she ends up on the set of a television talk show that turns people's private pain into entertainment, and her visit sets off a chain of events that holds the studio, and soon the whole country, in suspense. Arun Prabu's debut is part social satire, part tragedy and part dark comedy, a furious look at consumerism, hypocrisy and how society treats women. Newcomer Aditi Balan's raw, fearless performance won wide acclaim, and the film became one of the most celebrated Tamil debuts of the decade.
