Thoongaa Vanam (2015)

After Diwakar, a narcotics officer, seizes a bag of cocaine during a bust, the gang it belonged to kidnaps his teenage son and demands the drugs in exchange. The handover is to take place at a huge nightclub owned by the ruthless Vittal Rao, and over a single night Diwakar must outwit the gangsters, a determined internal-affairs officer who suspects him, and corrupt colleagues, all among the crowds and corridors of the club. Thoongaa Vanam ("sleepless forest") is a tight, nearly real-time action thriller adapted from the French film Nuit Blanche (Sleepless Night, 2011). Produced by Kamal Haasan's company, it was shot simultaneously in Telugu as Cheekati Rajyam, with Ghibran's music.
