Fateh Singh is a loud, simple-hearted villager from Punjab who dreams of settling abroad, while Pooja is a modern, sharp-tongued girl from the city who wants to study fashion in Canada. They meet at the passport office, clash at once, and are thrown together again in Vancouver, where Fateh's rustic ways and Pooja's pride lead to one comic disaster after another. Slowly the quarrelling turns into something warmer, though neither will admit it. Jatt & Juliet was one of the biggest Punjabi hits of its time and helped turn Diljit Dosanjh from a singing star into a leading film actor, with Neeru Bajwa a perfect sparring partner. Its success led to a sequel in 2013 and, years later, a third film with the same pair.
