Purushottam Laxman Deshpande, known simply as Pu La, was Maharashtra's best-loved writer, humorist, performer and composer, the author of character sketches such as Vyakti Ani Valli whose title this film borrows. The second part of Bhaai picks up his life at the height of his fame, following his work in literature, theatre and music, his friendships with leading artists of his time, the causes he supported and his long partnership with his wife Sunitabai, who managed his life and challenged him in equal measure. Sagar Deshmukh plays Pu La with uncanny resemblance and Irawati Harshe plays Sunitabai. Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, the two parts were released a few weeks apart in early 2019, the year of Pu La's birth centenary celebrations.
