Kuldeep Patwal is an unremarkable man from a small town who is arrested for the killing of a prominent politician. He insists he is innocent, but the case is politically convenient, the evidence seems to point his way and the courtroom becomes a stage on which lawyers, police and party men all have their own interests. Told through the trial and through flashbacks into Kuldeep's life, the film steadily widens into a satire about how democracy treats the common voter, and about the rage that builds up in people the system ignores. Amit Rai, who earlier made Road to Sangam, gives Deepak Dobriyal one of his rare leading roles, and Dobriyal's tightly wound performance is the main reason to watch. Gulshan Devaiah and Raima Sen play key parts as the legal battle unfolds.
