Murugananthan is a low-ranking constable whose stick, the laththi of the title, is the only weapon he carries. After being suspended over a beating he gave a suspect, he wins his job back by doing a senior officer a favour, but the favour makes him the target of a feared gangster's son and his men. When they corner him and his small son inside a half-built tower, he must fight his way out floor by floor. The second half is almost one long siege, with extended fight sequences that Vishal performed with heavy physical commitment, reportedly getting injured during the shoot. Yuvan Shankar Raja scored the film, and it was released in Tamil with dubbed versions, including Hindi, in December 2022.
