Sathya, a young sub-inspector who grew up in a juvenile home, has his gun stolen during a stakeout, and the weapon falls into the hands of a desperate group planning a robbery. As the eight bullets in the revolver are used one by one, Sathya races to recover it before it destroys more lives, and his hunt leads him to Krishnamurthy, an ageing, broken man whose story becomes the heart of the film. Debut director Sri Ganesh openly took inspiration from Akira Kurosawa's Stray Dog, reworking its premise into a morally grey Chennai neo-noir. M. S. Bhaskar, usually seen as a comedian, won wide acclaim for his dramatic turn, and the film was praised as one of the best Tamil thrillers of 2017.
