Inspector Kaalidas is assigned to a disturbing case: several women in Chennai have died after falling from apartment buildings, and what look like suicides begin to form a pattern. As he and a senior officer work through the leads, the strain of the job widens a distance between Kaalidas and his wife, who feels neglected at home. The film runs the investigation and the domestic story side by side, and the way they touch each other is key to its effect. Kaalidas was one of the better-reviewed films of Bharath's later career, noted for its restrained, realistic police procedure and a tight runtime, with Suresh Chandra Menon in a strong supporting role as the senior officer.
