Dhuruvan is a forest officer from a tribal community who faces casteist contempt from his own superior. He is assigned to train a group of five college girls from the NCC in the forests, and they treat him with the same disdain. Deep in the jungle, the group discovers that a team of foreign mercenaries is preparing to destroy a rocket set to launch from an Indian space centre, and with no help coming, Dhuruvan must turn his reluctant trainees into a fighting unit. S. P. Jananathan's film combines a jungle adventure-thriller with pointed politics about caste, class and national pride, and is loosely inspired by the Soviet war film The Dawns Here Are Quiet. Its forest locations and Jayam Ravi's committed lead performance are its strengths.
