Agni Rekha (1973)

Agni Rekha is a 1973 Hindi drama directed by Mahesh Kaul, a veteran filmmaker of socially minded family stories. It stars Sanjeev Kumar, then rising fast towards his best years, opposite Sharada, the South Indian actress who had won a National Award for Malayalam cinema and made a handful of Hindi films. Bindu, Asrani and Sajjan appear in support. The title, 'line of fire', points to the ordeal at the heart of the story, in which a woman's virtue and devotion are questioned and tested. It is a chance to see Sanjeev Kumar in an early-1970s domestic melodrama rather than an action film.
