Kedar is a naive, kind-hearted young man who goes to stay in a quiet small town where a group of Bengali families spend their holidays. His simplicity makes him the butt of jokes among the clever young people there, including his own elder brother's circle, but his goodness slowly wins over a sensitive girl. Based on a story by Saradindu Bandyopadhyay, Tarun Majumdar's film is a warm, gently comic portrait of Bengali middle-class life. It introduced Tapas Paul, who became a major Bengali star, and featured Mahua Roychoudhury in one of her best-loved roles. Hemanta Mukherjee's music, including Rabindrasangeet, adds to its charm, and it was one of the biggest Bengali hits of its time.
