Big B (2007)

Mary Teacher was a gentle woman who adopted four abandoned boys and raised them in Fort Kochi. When she is shot dead in what looks like a random street crime, the brothers gather again, led by the eldest, Bilal, a quiet, imposing man with a violent past. Refusing to accept the police version, they begin their own investigation, which takes them deep into the city's land mafia and its links with powerful people. Loosely inspired by the Hollywood film Four Brothers, Big B was the debut of cinematographer-turned-director Amal Neerad and introduced a stylish, slow-motion visual language that was new to Malayalam cinema. It was also the first film for Gopi Sundar as a background score composer. Mammootty's Bilal, with his clipped dialogue, became a cult character, and a sequel named Bilal was announced years later.
