Avinash is a circus-style stunt rider who has lost much of his hearing in an accident and badly needs money. He falls in with a small-time gang planning to kidnap a rich man's son, but the plan goes wrong from the start, and the boy they end up holding has connections that make everything far more complicated and dangerous for them. What follows is a farce of greed, misunderstanding and double-crosses across Mumbai. Mumbai Xpress was made in Hindi and Tamil by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, who earlier directed Kamal Haasan in the silent comedy Pushpak and in Apoorva Sagodharargal. It was one of the first Indian feature films shot on digital video, and its music is by Ilaiyaraaja. The Tamil version has more of a following, but the Hindi one is a treat for fans of Kamal Haasan's comic side.
